So has anyone figured out how to make Plurk notifs linear instead of a stupid drop-down? :c And put them back on the right?

Do you currently have any CSS for your layout or are you using one of the stock layouts?

If you have custom CSS just cntrl+F "Border-radius" and delete those lines or set them to 0px. That will make everything square again.

If you're using a stock layout, you'll have to find the code elements to the various parts you want to square off again and code for those.

I've made a basic black layout after chopping apart my old css and it can be found here. This is without any background image and seems to be used best with the new black 'theme' from Plurk, though you can always upload w/e background image you want as well.

Help-wise, the only thing I'm really having an issue with is changing the color of links in plurks. They're all that annoying blue, and if anyone has a fix, I'd appreciate it.

I really like the colors I have picked out from the defaults for my dashboard, but it makes the corners on my profile box sharp.

The pretty colors & sharp corner
Theme settings (+ the Rounded Corners on Everything code from further up this page and a custom background, obv)

If you pick one of the new themes that changes everything, you get nice rounded profile information, but I LIKE how it looks rn (aside from the sharp corner). Does anyone have some CSS I can add to put rounded corners on the old dash themes?

[personal profile] mignonne422 2016-02-04 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)

#plurk-dashboard, #dashboard_holder, .dash-segment, .segment-content {

If you want the corners more rounded make the number bigger. For less rounding, go smaller.

Plurks not expanding to show whole top-level?

[personal profile] whatisay 2016-02-04 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
These tips and tricks are fantastic, guys. Thank you so much for getting rid of the creepy fish.

Does anyone know how to allow the top plurk to show all the text of a top-level? Right now I'm having a problem where the border of the plurk is cutting off the bottom halfs of my letters, and even when the plurk is opened only about 2/3rds of the emote appears (the bottom half is truncated).

Also, when I look back at older plurks, a lot of them even expanded cut off inexplicably. Examples:

--> the emote here is supposed to be square, the bottom is cut off

--> this was originally a full sentence, but doesn't display as such.

i've mostly fixed my layout to be functional, but i'm having this weird glitch:

aka the line in the reply box of individual plurks stretches out weirdly, and trying to change the width in #input_small only moves the lazarus symbol to the left but doesn't remove the white space

here's my code. if anyone can help me i'd really really appreciate it.

This post has been super helpful so far, thank you so much to everyone contributing! But I've still got some issues I'd like help with, if anyone's got an answer to them.

My plurk's [plurk.com profile] singing_monk and this is my code - apologies for it being kind of a Frankenstein mess, I have less than zero understanding of code and just keep pasting things to the bottom.

First, if someone could tell me how to make the top bar transparent again I would super appreciate it; the update seems to have broken the code I was using before to do so. Also, when I get a new update/reply the notifs in the bottom left are covered in big white boxes that only disappear when I mouse over them.

AND FINALLY I want to shorten the height of individual plurks, but when I use the first code here it cuts off the top level and refuses to show the rest of it even when I mouse over and expand. Is it something in my layout causing that or what? And more importantly, how do I fix it the size is driving me almost as insane as that top bar.

Again, thank you so much! I really really appreciate it.

I've used the fix to get rid of the bright red on new responses, and change it to a color that better matches my layout, but when I'm in "view new responses" mode, there's still bright red down where it says "all plurks (#)"

Any ideas how to change the color on that? I'm a css beginner

So I got my plurks to be the color I wanted, but the # next to them indicating responses doesn't change. How would I fix that?

(Ie: 24 responses is white with yellow font, nearly unreadable for me!)

I think this was answered on the previous page, but the bit that codes for those response bubbles is the below

.response_count {
background: #fff! important;
color: #999 !important;

.new .response_count {
background: #A0E7EC !important;
color: #fff !important;

Anybody managed to figure out how to edit the bar up top where the title is? All of my attempts to change the background color to white on this bar across the top have failed.

So far I've tried coding for:

#top_bar #bar-color

but no luck yet. Any insight would be amazing!

[personal profile] curaga 2016-02-05 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm wondering if anyone has isolated the code to make the background on date/time stamps at the bottom of the timeline transparent? Or at least to change the colour (background and font?)...

Same goes for the All Plurks, My Plurks, Responded menus -- is there a way to make the background on those options transparent or change their colour as well?

ALSO I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE HERE all these tidbits and tips have helped immensely ;w;

For those who prefer having only the plurk icon and info blurb to show, and none of the other plurk modules (like so), here is a modified layout that does that.

The centered alignment is imperfect and I haven't cleaned up the code in an orderly fashion, but it's functional. Credit to [personal profile] elystia for the original dashboard rearrangement and everyone on this post for the plurk box edits!

NB: The background is uploaded off-site, you can replace it with a repeating pattern or with a wallpaper-sized one; plurk resets its backgrounds if you upload to the site itself so this is a workaround on that. Just look for this part on the code (it's at the top) and replace the URL:
    body {
    background: #000000 url(https: //i.imgur.com/tsoDRYf.gif) repeat;
    color: black;

I'm about as done fixing my own plurk's layout as I'm gonna get (at least for today), so I'm gonna go ahead and offer it up in case anyone's interested in a dark, aquatic theme or just something that has most if not all of the plurk elements put down to be played with.

I incorporated several of the fixes here, so thanks to [personal profile] dood for the userpic thing, [plurk.com profile] farrons and [personal profile] freesia for hiding the badges, and [personal profile] hypeodermic for helping squash the yellow highlighting!

Hello there! So that's a nice layout :) I noticed you managed to change the colours of highlighting for new plurk responses and I was wondering which part of the code does that? It's the last thing I need to change on my own layout. Also how did you change the colour of the new plurk text box and the reply box inside plurks?

Here's my code, if that helps at all.

So I'd just like to inform you all that ::before and ::after work in Plurk CSS (as does content:, if you write it as content :.)

This is why the following code, along with leaving my location blank:

#location::after {
content : url(http://static.dnaindia.com/sites/default/files/2015/10/02/361285-john-cena-2.jpg)

Has resulted in... uh, well, why don't you see for yourself.

This is super cool because theoretically it lets you completely circumvent the character limit in the "about me" section, for one, but... is there a way to somehow insert line breaks into this, or fake them?

If I use
#about_me::before { content : "TEXT"; display : block; margin-bottom:15px; }
that ads a neat line of text above my normal "about me" text with display:block making a line break and the margin sort of like... faking out an extra return in there, idk.

But that margin is a half-assed solution, and I haven't figured out any way that this could allow me to use MULTIPLE line breaks. Or multiple pictures, for that matter.

Am I asking too much of ::before and ::after? Is there another CSS solution to this?

like if there way a way to do that you would have zero restrictions on what you could put in your bio. you could put the entire unabridged and illustrated text of les mis in there, if you wanted. that would be hilarious.

Heart on liked plurks, Muted Plurks, Sync button

[personal profile] mignonne422 2016-02-05 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
No one's requested this as far as I can see, but since it was driving me crazy because i hate that horrible bright red, I'm going to post this here.

You can change the color of the heart on "liked" plurks with the below code

/*Heart on Liked Plurks*/
.manager .like-on {color:#f4b0c0 !important;}
.manager .like-off:hover {background:#f4b0c0 !important;}
.favorite_icon {color:#f4b0c0 !important}

/*Lock on Private Plurks*/
.plurk_icon.private{color:#3fb4db !important}

Also, if you're like me and like your muted plurks to really fade away, the code is below. Lower numbers mean less opaque, with 0 being invisible and 1 (or 100 in alpha) being completely visible.

.muted {filter:alpha(opacity=10); opacity:0.1; zoom:1;}
.muted:hover {filter:alpha(opacity=80); opacity:.8; zoom:1;}

And if you don't like the sync button under where you type plurks, you can hide it with the below

/*Hiding Sync Button*/
.cmp_sync_off { position: absolute; left: -1000px; width: 0px; }

i don't THINK anyone has shared this yet (please delete this if i'm wrong!) but here it is, the way to get the "all plurks/my plurks" etc. menu to go back to the right side!

#filter_tab li {clear:none;width:auto;margin-left:5px;}
#filter_tab a {height:25px !important; margin:0 !important;}
.timeline_control {margin-left:5px;margin:18px;}
#timeline_control_holder {width:100%;}
#updater {left:5px;margin-bottom:60px;}

thank you to [plurk.com profile] flowmotion for discovering it; it was originally found in this plurk! as a warning, since i didn't write the code i honestly have no idea how to troubleshoot it so i can't promise i'll be much help if it doesn't work for you, sorry! :(

Hide "Mark All As Read"

[personal profile] glorious 2016-02-06 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure how many people actually want this, but since it was a little finnicky to figure out what exactly I had to change, I figure I may as well share it and save a potential headache for someone:

a#mark_all_link.updater_link {
display : none;

If you wanted to make any other changes that are specifically to the "Mark All As Read" button (and no other buttons!) then a#mark_all_link.updater_link is what you'll want to refer to.

Awesome!! Thank you, I'll experiment with this!

Would there be any way to switch "Mark All As Read" it to the other side of the "View All Plurks" button when they're next to each other? As it is, it changes from "__ Unread Plurks" directly to "Mark All As Read" and it's so easy to double-click by mistake.

One quick little one:

.icons_holder .pif-sync {display : none;}

Will remove the "plurk to other networks" button. Because seriously, has anyone EVER wanted to cross-post their plurks to facebook?

Booper dooper!

More or less an add on to this! I basically tweaked a few things for my own purposes (mostly editing colors hahaha) and commented on the code so that people know better what is what. I also put in that new code where you make the all plurks menu horizontal and stuff.

Thanks to all the people who contributed to the codes because there's so many amazing people who actually know their CSS and made and actual layout where I can tweak like crazy.

Here's another really random one: I figured out how to selectively remove info from the dash stats table, and get rid of that annoying "how to get more karma" thing.

This is probably appallingly inelegant code because I know zero CSS and I just poked around in inspect element and fucked around until I got something seemed to work. Sorry about that.

/*-- Remove "How To Get More Karma" --*/
a.link_arrow.openGB {display : none!important;}

/*-- Selectively Remove Dash Stats Rows --*/
#dash-stats-table {margin-top: -30px; margin-bottom:25px;}
table#dash-stats-table tr:nth-child(1) {display : none;}
table#dash-stats-table tr:nth-child(2) {display : none;}

This only removes whole rows (I got rid of the first row (Profile views/Friends invited) and the second (Plurks/Plurk responses) and kept the third row (Member since/Last login)), I'm not sure how to make it remove individual stats. The #dash-stats-table margin-top just scoots the remaining stats up and down, so you can adjust that to your liking. The margin-bottom actually expands the whole box a little bit - I set mine to 25 because that makes it exactly the same height as the box with my icon.

Just messed a little more and found this gem--

.manager .promote {position: absolute; left: -1000px; width: 0px; !important}

.manager .replurk-off {position: absolute; left: -1000px; width: 0px; !important}

.manager .mute-off {color:#D8D8D8 !important;}
.manager .mute-on {color:#B22020 !important;}

much thanks for this that gave me an idea on what to mess around in!
